Large-scale incentive group PTT Public Co. Ltd., a global gas company based in Thailand, heads to Korea this year. The group, composed of 1,312 employees, will visit Korea in batches starting from September 2 until December 3, 2018.

The first batch arrived earlier this month. In their 5 day itinerary, the group visited major attraction sites in Seoul, and Busan, Lonely Planet’s 2018 Best Destination in Asia, such as Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, Jagalchi Fish Market, and Gamcheon Cultural Village.

PTT Public Co. Ltd. is one of the largest conglomerates in Thailand and ranks 81st in Fortune 500 companies. Approximately 25,000 people are employed in this company including its subsidiaries.

Meanwhile, 941 employees of VINAMILK, Vietnam’s largest dairy producer, are visiting Korea this October. Incentive travel is a method of motivating or rewarding employees for their excellent business performance. The Korea MICE Bureau conducts several marketing campaigns such as incentive briefing sessions, familiarization tours, and roadshows to attract these groups to host their incentive travel in Korea.

The Korea Tourism Organization has been making active efforts to diversify its market since 2017. According to KTO, the total number of inbound incentive travel tourists in Korea from Southeast Asian countries reached 139,934 people in 2017 – reflecting a 31.4% increase from the previous year. One of the most notable groups who visited Korea during that period is the MCI Company from Indonesia who brought 1,143 of employees during the winter season.

“Despite the difficulties we experienced due to the downturn of the China market last year, we are putting our best foot forward to recover and boost our marketing campaigns in these new opportunities we found in India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and other Southeast Asian countries.” Chulbeom Park, Director of the KTO Corporate & Incentive Team said. He added that KTO has plans to expand its incentive market in Moscow, Russia.
