The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA)—the voice of the global business travel industry—announced that more than 1,000 business travel buyers have registered for GBTA Convention 2014, marking the earliest in the event’s history that this milestone has been reached.

Overall registration is also on record breaking pace with nearly 4,000 attendees currently registered.

“Travel buyers are the heartbeat of a company’s travel program—they make sure travel continues while also making sure company dollars are wisely invested,” said Michael W. McCormick, GBTA executive director and COO. “The GBTA Convention keeps innovating and improving each year, making it the premiere place to bring together these agents of growth, connecting travel managers and suppliers and continuing to energize the business travel industry.”

With more to come, GBTA has already announced a stellar line-up of fascinating speakers for this year’s event. Convention Arena will feature Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey who has been a leader in transforming the traditional television model with his Netflix debut of House of Cards as well as award winning actor and comedian Jason Alexander. The Center Stage line-up of industry speakers includes John Pistole, U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Administrator; Jeff Smisek, president and CEO of United Airlines; Richard Anderson, Delta CEO; Doug Parker, CEO of American Airlines Group and American Airlines; and Steve Singh, Concur CEO and Chairman.

The 2014 Convention theme, Business in Motion, aptly describes how the event will unfold as nearly 7,000 attendees from all facets of the business travel industry come together for five days of continuous motion at the business travel event of the year. GBTA will broadcast LIVE from the LA Convention Center, bringing you world-class keynote speakers, more than 80 industry-leading education sessions, the largest business travel expo floor, a wide selection of professional development opportunities and much more providing attendees the opportunity to build their careers and get business done.

Attendee registration is open now. New programs and speakers will be unveiled throughout 2014. For the latest developments and more information, please visit gbta.org/convention.
