Moscow is to take part in Asia’s leading travel trade show in Singapore

The tourism potential of Moscow will be presented by the officials of the Moscow Department of Sport and Tourism at the Asian Travel Market — ITB Asia 2017. It will take place from 25 to 27 October in Singapore. The representatives of the tourism and hospitality industry and leading Asian international tourism operators regularly take part in ITB Asia. A press conference with participation of Ekaterina Borisova, Head of Tourism management of Department of Sport and Tourism with the theme “The tourism potential of Russian capital” is being organized on 25th of October. During the press conference, the representatives of business and media will know about improving of local infrastructure and Moscow project “Safe city”. Ekaterina Borisova will tell about preparations for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup: the Luzhniki Grand Sport Arena and Spartak Stadium are to host football matches. Moscow is ready to host a massive influx of tourists and fans. Russian information booth in Singapore will put you face to face with the representatives of Russian companies such as Tourist Hotel Complex «Vega», Global Russia DMC, Rusmice, Spectrum, Tourist Hotel Complex «Izmailovo» («Gamma», «Delta»), National Tourist Union, China Travel Trans Show Tour, Fremad Russia, Mos-Tour, Azimut Hotels.

The record tourists flow was registered in the Russian capital in 2016. About 19 million people came to Moscow. During the New Year holidays the city hosted almost 155 per cent more tourists than in 2010.

650,000 people arrived to Moscow airports from the South-East Asia countries including over 10,000 people from Singapore, about 57,000 tourists from Japan, over 71,000 guests from the republic of Korea and about 512,000 people from China. 378,000 chinese guests came to Moscow as tourists, about 79,000 guests from China were business travelers, over 34,000 had private travel and 10,000 chinese guests came to Russia with different aims.
The weekend two- or three-day tourist tours are very popular in Moscow. But it’s impossible to see all Moscow sights in a single weekend tour. There are over 8,000 Heritage Sites in the Russian capital and most of them are protected UNESCO sites.

The city is busy with preparing for the 2018 FIFA World Cup – the top sport event of the year. Football matches will take place in The Luzhniki Grand Sport Arena and Spartak Stadium. It is expected, that Moscow will host more than one million football fans. Moscow hotel infrastructure is allowed to receive even more tourists and guests. The classification of Moscow hotels and hostels is being in progress constantly. 1,183 hotels and hostels have obtained star rating. Most of them are hotels and hostels with budget prices. In all, the city now has 224 three-star hotels, 667 zero-star hotels, 120 certified four-star and five-star hotels with a total of 23,000 rooms. Before the end of the year 11 more hotels will be opened with 3,800 rooms. In 250 Moscow hotels pets are allowed at an additional cost or free of charge. 22 Moscow hotels are adapted for chinese tourists. 7 five-star, 9 four-star, 3 three-star, 2 twostar hotels and one hostel have already taken part in the program China Friendly. Over 2 million people stay in Moscow hotels during their business trips. Russian capital hosts more than 500 festivals, forums, conferences and exhibitions every year.

The safety of tourists and fans is key issue throughout the preparations for the 2018 World Cup. The new project “Safe city” is an integrated security system. It provides monitoring of all events and gives relevant information to all security services and agencies. Moscow surveillance network includes over 142,000 cameras. In the Frost & Sullivan rankings Moscow was rated as one of the top-10 cities with highest level of urban safety and advanced information and communication technology. A network of tourist information centres and tourist police with officers fluent in foreign languages had been established under the preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Tourist police officers with “Tourist Police” armbands will help tourists with directions if needed.
