Melburnians can now rejoice – there is a new sustainable burger joint in town where the food taste as good as they are for the planet.

A 100% plant-based menu awaits diners at the recently opened Henry’s in Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. From the plant-based menu to minimal food waste, Henry’s is an innovative new Melbourne venue that serves tasty food quickly and ethically.

It’s taken the team from Henry’s over a year to craft the menu to perfection. Executive Head Chef Jarrod Moore (worked at East Brunswick Club creating their plant based menus and has put the B-east on the map with burgers for the last 7 years, along with a large vegan offering that has gained PETA recognition) has created sauces, gravies and toppings from scratch to ensure they deliver on the taste that Melbourne burger lovers expect and demand.

The search for the tastiest and most authentic plant-based burger patties took the team around the world, with Moving Mountains selected as the patty of choice made with an allnatural blend of simple ingredients, comprising mushrooms, wheat, soy and pea proteins.

Mushrooms bring the juiciness and the mouth-watering fibrous texture and appearance. Soy and wheat bind the ingredients, which also gives a wonderful browning when the burger is cooked. Beetroot juice adds the right hint of sweetness and appearance, and coconut oil for that little bit of greasiness that burger lovers crave. Henry’s is the only place in the country you will find these patties.

Alongside the Henry’s original burger there is the Schnitzroy and the Lentilist. No burger joint would be complete without the sides and Henry’s disco fries come with Henry’s signature BBQ seasoning, gravy and shredded Vchedder or try the side of beer battered onion rings.

Dessert comes in the form of dairy free plant-based sundaes complete with topping and optional crumbled biscuit and honeycomb. To wash it all down, there are delicious thickshakes, tea temptress, root chakra ice cream, house made lemonade, local brews and natural wines.

“My distant ancestor Henry Salt, was a pioneer in ethical eating and the promotion of plantbased diets. He influenced Gandhi to pursue vegetarianism and wrote the first ever book on animal rights,” said Maz Salt, founder.

“I wanted to continue his legacy by creating a burger joint that takes an ethical approach in everything it does. Our name Henry’s pays homage to him and I wanted to publicly acknowledge the positive influence that my family has had on me and that I hope to have for my kids.” said Salt.

Designed by the nationally recognised and award-winning team at Austin Maynard Architects and creative designers Studio Round, Henry’s fresh and indoor-plant filled interior offers a truly unique experience finished with a nostalgic modern-diner feel.

Fast food comes with fast packaging, all of Henry’s packaging is either recyclable or compostable. Food waste is minimal due to both the way the menu has been designed and layout of the kitchen, with all food scraps composted locally.

Henry’s is open seven days a week from 11am to late. It is located at 275 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy VIC 3056.
