With exotic climate, idilic beaches and affordable prices, it’s no surprise that Goa has become one of the worlds most popular holiday destinations, attracting over 30% of tourism across the whole of India each year.

Not only does Goa have an exceptionally rich culture but also a deep-rooted heritage in electronic music, stemming back to an infant scene during the late 60s and early 70s. By the 80s and 90s Goa Trance had become a globally recognised movement helping to shape the course of electronic music.

Continuing in this long tradition and rising from the ashes of Goa Trance, world-leading dance music  and lifestyle festival Sunburn have been pushing boundaries to write the next chapter in Goa’s illustrious history. Now in their 8th year, the monolithic festival takes place each December at the coastal town of Vagator, North Goa, attracting 160,000 people from across the globe to see the biggest names in club culture play across 7 colossal arenas of music with the likes of Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia and Tiësto all participating in recent years.

Ex Swedish House Mafioso Axwell even publicly enthused “When I play for money I play Vegas, when I play for holidays I play Miami, when I play for love I play India”.

Compared to the Uk and the US Dance Music in India is on the up and still rising converting many of the nations youth from Bollywood to Electronic Dance Music.

As eyes turn to India as an emerging market leader, events like Sunburn are trailblazing to set India on the map as a major player in global dance culture.
