As a natural step to ensure successful sales and marketing strategies for its properties in Asia, which is confirmed to triple in five years, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts announced the appointment of Holger Jakobs as Vice President Sales & Marketing Asia.As part of his new remit, Jakobs will support the company’s resorts and city hotels in Asia with sales and marketing strategies to drive performance, as well as leveraging key account relationships to grow Mövenpick’s status as a preferred partner.
Jakobs has a unique experience of operations in Asia, having been involved with selling the destination as an hotelier, as well as from the perspective of a product manager for a South-East Asia specialist tour operator.
Previously, Jakobs was Director of Sales & Marketing at the St Regis Bangkok and St Regis Beijing. He was also Area Director of Sales & Marketing for Six Senses Resorts & Spas, and directed sales and marketing activities in Thailand and Indonesia for properties under The Luxury Collection, Le Mèridien and Sheraton brands.
“Asia is definitely our next frontier and we’re delighted to have someone with Holger’s experience to drive our sales and marketing efforts going forward,” said Andreas Mattmüller, Chief Operating Officer of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, Middle East and Asia. “We currently operate eight hotels in Asia and have a further 17 signed projects, with the aim to operate 25hotels on the continent by 2020.”
