MTA Travel Queensland And Yvonne Verstandig Win Major Awards At Virtuoso® Travel Week, The World’s Largest Luxury Travel Show

Virtuoso Travel Week concluded at the weekend at The Bellagio Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The prestigious event attracted record attendance of over 4,400 top executives and professionals in the luxury travel business.

Virtuoso Travel Week is known for its hallmark one-on-one appointments that take place between the network’s international travel advisors and world’s-best travel providers.

A record 77 Australian and New Zealand travel advisors attended this year, participated in the event’s nearly 354,000 appointments.

Virtuoso’s member agencies across 20 countries generate over US$12.5 billion annually in travel sales.  MTA Queensland was named as the Top Producer for Virtuoso in Australia and Zealand

At the event, Yvonne Verstandig, managing director of Executive Edge + Events was named in the “Peer to Peer awards as “Most Admired Travel Adviser in Australia and New Zealand”.

“Virtuoso Travel Week is the most important event of the year for me and my agency,” says Verstandig.  “The relationships I build through the event, ensure my clients will travel almost anywhere in the world as a VIP, receiving benefits they can’t find elsewhere. This year’s Best of the Best Awards included:

Hotel of the Year – Rosewood London – United Kingdom

Hotelier of the year – Ms Rainy Chan, general manager The Peninsula Hong Kong

Best Airline – Emirates Airlines

Best Luxury Cruise Line – Crystal Cruises

Best Bar – King Cole Bar, St Regis New York

Best Spa – The Bulgari Spa, Bulgari Hotel and Residences, London 

During the week, Virtuoso also revealed the latest destination trends, showing where their international clients from 20 countries will be travelling in the next six months

  2. Chile (+ 103%)                                                           7.  Australia (+ 58%)

The group also revealed that Central Europe is experiencing a surge:  Hungary (86%), Croatia (68%), Austria (48%), Poland (48%), and Czech Republic (23%).  Russia, however, has seen a sharp decline, down 69%.  Overall, travel to European countries is up by 23%.
