The new ‘Let’s Skip Town Together’ campaign is motivating visitors to leave routine behind and escape into Mudgee Region for a sophisticated country food and drink weekend.

“The Mudgee Region Tourism Board and I were delighted to be working with Destination NSW via the RVEF program. The $120K in funding, which will match our own $120K investment for a 2016 destination marketing campaign, will undoubtedly increase awareness of Mudgee Region across our target audiences. Our focus is to promote a refreshed Food + Drink tourism offering as supported by a Destination Management Plan, working collaboratively with key stakeholders Destination NSW, Central NSW Tourism, Mid-Western Regional Council, Mudgee Wine + Grape Growers’ Association, Mudgee Fine Foods and our industry members. We’ve had a terrific 18 months with the successful rollout of our new destination brand, social media strategy, mobile-responsive website and winning Gold at the Inland Tourism Awards for Stage 1 of our ‘Reset your senses in Mudgee Region’ campaign. We are excited about what is on the horizon for the visitor economy across the Mudgee Region in 2016,” said Russell Holden, Chair of Mudgee Region Tourism Board.

The campaign is targeting the leisure holiday segment, specifically Food + Drink Tourism, Short Breaks for Relaxation as well as the Romantic market from Sydney and Regional NSW. By highlighting the region’s food and drink travel benefits, overnight visitation, expenditure and destination awareness will be further increased by end of 2016.

Campaign partners from local industry will be engaged to participate, with support from major stakeholders such as Central NSW Tourism, Midwestern Regional Council, Mudgee Wine Grape Growers Association and Mudgee Fine Foods.

Supported by Destination Marketing Store and Klick Communications the campaign will incorporate print, digital, media and promotional activity to convert target audiences to engage in regular short breaks.

Leianne Murphy, Acting CEO of Mudgee Region  Tourism said: ‘Mudgee Region is a destination where people can enjoy country living without giving up the fine food and drink they expect in metropolitan areas. Local produce is what makes it so special and it’s embraced by everyone. There is a genuine passion for food and drink in Mudgee Region and a genuine desire to share it with others.”
