With more and more delicious reasons to visit Mudgee Region, escaping the hustle and bustle of Sydney to indulge in sophisticated food and wine experiences is now even easier. Mudgee Region Tourism is delighted to announce FlyPelican has commenced flights from Sydney (and Newcastle) to Mudgee.

Launched from Thursday 11 June 2015, these short 50-minute flights are connecting city-siders to the Mudgee Region, with departures available Monday to Friday and Sunday.

Following the closure of a previous air service in 2013, Mudgee Region has felt a need from both business and leisure travellers to re-establish this crucial link, to further cement Mudgee as the luxury destination of choice for the astute traveller.

Cara George, CEO of Mudgee Region Tourism said:The Mudgee Region offers the discerning traveller a chance to reset their senses, by escaping the city and indulging in the nature and freedom of Mudgee country. The re-introduction of air services helps bring Mudgee even closer, giving time-poor Sydney and Newcastle travellers further means of accessing this captivating region; whether by air or a comfortable 3.5 hour drive.”

FlyPelican is an independent Newcastle-based airline company that operates a 19 seat British Aerospace Jetstream 32 Aircraft. Travellers can choose one-way fares between Sydney and Mudgee that start from $99, or $198 return, with a checked-in luggage allowance of 15kg. As the flight times are early morning and afternoon, it is ideal for those taking a short break or extending their stay to make their own long weekend.

FlyPelican’s CEO Paul Graham was onboard Thursday’s inaugural flight from Sydney to Mudgee. He said the necessary approvals to start scheduled flights had been long awaited. “We are looking forward to reinstating this critical link,” Mr Graham said. “The service has a proven history and we are confident that it will be well supported and prosper.”
