The sense of exclusivity begins as guests ride in the private outdoor elevator up to MEI. Once the doors slide open, guests can feast on the vibrant city views set against the backdrop of the CCTV Tower, the capital’s most iconic modern building.

MEI’s design is just as unique as the views outside. A range of influences, from classic gentleman’s club to urban, stripped-back Manhattan loft give MEI a provocative and unexpected edge. At MEI, guests choose between three bars: one specialises in whiskey, a cocktail bar serves as the main bar, and a small wine bar offers an impeccable list from both the Old and New Worlds.

The highly selective wine list includes Dom Pérignon P3 1971 which can’t be found elsewhere in Beijing and opening promotions include two bottles of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label forCNY1,300, and three for CNY1,800, plus many fine wines served by the glass.

The whiskey bar with debonair gentlemen’s club-style atmosphere serves a long list of single malts and blends; it is one of the few places in the capital where connoisseurs can enjoy the very sophisticated single malt Talisker 30 years as well as Town Branch Bourbon. Guests can choose to sip and savor at the bar or in a classic club leather chair accented with tartan fabrics in one of the elegant areas by the cozy open fireplace.

The main bar showcases a cocktail selection under the expert ministrations of international bar and beverage consultant Giancarlo Mancino.

The stylish cocktails include Pisco Punch with Demonio de los Andes Pisco Cocchi, Americano Luxardo apricot brandy, pineapple puree, lime and marshmallow; Mango Hamingway Daiquiriwith Clement Blanc, Maraschino Liqueur, lemon, passionfruit, Monin vanilla syrup and mango puree foam; and Sloe Gin & Tonic with Hayman’s Sloe Gin.

With a capacity for 300, the party can seamlessly spill onto the grand terrace, connecting guests to the energy of the city and providing plenty of room to dance. The Zing seven-piece band from the United States and Canada and the beautiful twin DJs Tang Twinz enhance the party vibe, and they will play from 8 p.m. on Monday to Wednesday and 9 p.m. on Thursday to Saturday.

Henri Brown, popularly known as HB, leads the band and counts Jimi Hendrix as a cousin and is the son of jazz singer Pearl Brown; expect a wide-ranging performance with plenty of jazz and soul mixed with all-time favorite tracks.

Dance music fans with an eye for beauty and talent will warmly welcome the Tang Twinz, a sexy duo of model-turned-DJ sisters. Jade and Marian are no strangers to the stage and their creative music will blow guests away with its powerful mix of progressive house, deep house and big room electric dance music.

MEI will also charm guests with its menu of Asian and Mediterranean tapas, prepared in the open kitchen, including char siu tostada with Asian slaw, or a delicious spread of charcuterie and cheese board.

MEI is open from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., Sunday to Tuesday, and 6 p.m. to 3 a.m., Wednesday to Saturday.
