egtmedia59Subtitle: Mungo Man and the Murray River

The Mildura team, led by the irrepressible Julie Jewel, were highly visible at AIME 2014, sharing space with their Murray River colleagues and taking time out to talk about their part of the river and what they can offer to the meetings and conventions market.

Talking with Julie she is quick to remind you that Mildura is close to Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, is serviced by air with direct flights from all three cities, and indeed can lift 550 people per day from Melbourne, with the seven return flights, operated by three different airlines.  All of which make for easy travelling to and from the venue. Mildura

Julie also points out that Mildura is renowned as the food bowl of the country, which makes it a great place for fresh food, fine wine, great restaurants and top chefs, including Stefano De Pieri. It is also a major centre on Australia’s greatest river, offering a range of sporting opportunities, some tremendous river attractions and on top of all that – it has Mungo Man.  Mildura is the jumping off place for Mungo National Park, home to one of the worlds most ancient and precious cultural treasures.

Julie and the Mildura team were joined by Deputy Mayor – Councillor John Arnold and MCVB CEO Karen Bolinger, for the launch of the 2014 Business Events Planners Guide on the final afternoon.  Speaking at the launch Councillor Arnold said, “The Mildura City Council has been for some time and continues to be, very supportive of business events, and has invested in a dedicated Business Events Facilitator (Julie Jewell) to assist conference organisers coming to the region as well as building the industry for Mildura’s future”  “After hosting many national conferences and learning about what is required we are continually developing new product, as well as pre and post touring and field trip options” he added.
