Murray River Walk won Silver in the Ecotourism Category at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards held in Perth on Friday night – 23rd February.

In only its second year, Managing Director, Tony Sharley said that the Award is the biggest achievement so far for Murray River Walk – which helps people discover the magic of the Murray River.

The win rewards our outstanding guiding team and recognises the unique experience of walking each day along the river while our houseboat accommodation moves to our daily walking destination — said Mr Sharley.

Launched in 2016 to enable walkers to experience the magic of the Murray River, Managing Director Tony Sharley said it has been his lifelong mission to help people discover the beauty of the Murray River, its stories, culture, history, beauty, diverse landscapes, wildlife and superb local food and wine.

Murray River Walk celebrates the importance of a healthy river and its new stewardship. This award is a win for the river and its communities, celebrating the environment and diversifying the river economy.

Murray River Walk is based in the Riverland along with The Frames who won Gold in the Self-contained Accommodation category. National recognition raises the profile of the Murray River and the Riverland as an exciting tourism destination.

Murray River Walk offers 4 days and 3 nights guided walking in the Riverland Wetland of International Importance above Renmark. Groups of up to 10 quests enjoy walking a distance 40km (12 to 14 km each day), river cruising and overnight accommodation on a modern houseboat.
