John B Sutherland has launched a new musical experience to the travel industry in Thailand with ‘Karma’ resort and studio owner Chris Craker.

‘Karma Master Classes’ offer gifted children the opportunity to work with world famous musicians from the London Symphony and London Philharmonic Orchestras and be coached by some of the finest classical musicians in the world. in Included the price of the course is a one on one recording session, produced by Multi-Grammy Award nominated producer, Chris Craker.

The initial focus will be on violin, flute and clarinet for classical instrumentalists and vocal master classes for aspiring pop singers, but other instruments will feature in the coming months.

Former General Manager and Senior Vice President of Sony BMG Masterworks in London and New York, Chris Craker has spent over 30 years at the forefront of the music industry. As a performer, artist manager, record producer (over 400 albums in 25 years), independent record label founder and senior music executive at one of the worlds’ most successful major record companies, Chris has developed a reputation as a consummate professional in the industry working with artists from all genres of music.

The classes have been set up to target the high number of Asian children, currently developing their musical talents in Asia and especially China. Many families have young prodigies who star very early on and these types of experiences are invaluable to the children. Among the guest tutors are internationally renowned classical pedagogues including Leo Phillips (violin), Paul Edmund-Davies (flute), Chris Craker and Michael Collins (clarinet) and within the pop genre, vocal coach Maureen Scott.

Leo Philips is the former concertmaster of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and lead violinist of the world-renowned chamber group, The Nash Ensemble. Paul Edmund-Davies spent twenty years as the London Symphony Orchestra’s principal flautist, while Michael Collins is simply the world’s number one clarinettist, supported by ex-London Symphony Orchestra clarinettist, Chris Craker. Maureen Scott has worked as the lead vocal coach on Pop Star to Opera Star, X Factor and currently The Voice for BBC. Also a professor at London’s Royal Academy of Music, Maureen coaches pop stars including Matt Bellamy from Muse, Robbie Williams, Bjork and Johnny Borrell from Razorlight (among many others). She also works with the lead role performers in the West End productions of Wicked, The Sound of Music, Pricilla, Hairspray, Shrek, Mama Mia, Les Miserables, Phantom of The Opera, We Will Rock You and Miss Saigon.

Apart from master classes in the classical world and pop vocal classes, rock music instruments will also be featured for budding superstars over the coming months.

Master Classes will include weekend courses and week long courses where the majority of students will stay on site in the luxury facilities at Karma Resort & Studios.

‘Karma’ is a ‘creative utopia’, hidden away near a beach in Thailand. It’s the manifestation of a dream, and the brain-child of seasoned music industry executive.

Chris Craker, who, after working for over two decades in the front line at the very top of the international music industry, became so disenfranchised with ‘the way the music business was heading’ that he elected to completely side-step it and build a ‘spiritual home’ for artists and bands to create their very best work away from the real world.

Situated just 4 minutes walk from the beach in Bang Saray, ‘Karma’ is a cross between a luxury resort and a state of the art recording studio complex, surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Pattaya is a 20 minute drive and Bangkok a further 1.5 hours away. This fantastic location means there is something for everyone.

Recent visitors to the studios have included Placebo, Jamiroquai, Enter Shikari, Bullet, For My Valentine, guitar legend Jimmy Page, pop icon Jessie J and Young Guns.

The studios have also played host to some of the world’s most eminent producers and engineers including Sting’s Producer ‘Kipper’, Madonna, Lady Gaga and Beyonce’s Producer/Mix Engineers Tony Maserati and Chris Tabron, legendary engineer Phill Brown (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Talk Talk etc.) and multi million selling song writer/producer Sacha Skarbek (“You’re Beautiful” and “Wrecking Ball”).

‘Karma Magical Mystery Tour’, Chris and John B Sutherland have also launched weekend breaks, where some very lucky people can enjoy an exclusive and unique musical experience while staying in this beautiful location in Thailand. Step back in time and listen to the original master recordings of The Beatles ‘Sgt Pepper’ album, track by track! These are the actual master recordings from the studio, recorded between 1966 and 1967.

We can take tracks such as ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’, ‘A Day in the Life’, ‘When I’m Sixty Four’ and separate each instrument and vocal while discussing how the recordings were done, all those years ago!

Also on offer are original recordings by Queen from the 70’s. “Listening to these original tracks from all those years ago is both interesting and educational and puts a different perspective on the work that went into the creative process”. (Chris Craker)
