The Waldorf Hilton’s Head Concierge, Daniel Firth, has been nominated for London Concierge of the Year in the prestigious MVP Golden Keys Concierge Awards.

The Society of the Golden Keys threw a glittering celebration alongside Morris Victor Publications (MVP) at The Waldorf Hilton to announce the nominees in its London, Regional and Young Concierge of the Year categories, as well as an award for Service Through Friendship.

Now in their 12th year, the awards were created to shine a light on the efforts of the unsung heroes of the hospitality world by recognising the UK’s top hotel concierges.

David Firth was named among the 11 nominations for London Concierge of the Year; the winners will be announced in October at an event that will also mark 65 years of The Society of the Golden Keys.

The nomination event kicked off with a Champagne and canapé reception in the hotel’s beautiful and historic Palm Court, after which Antony Lynch, the President of The Society of the Golden Keys, announced the names of all of this year’s nominees, who were then presented with commemorative plaques.

Nominees are all members of the global body Les Clefs d’Or (The Society of the Golden Keys) – a not-for-profit association made up of more than 4,000 professional hotel concierges worldwide.

To join the society, members must have worked as a hotel concierge for a minimum of five years, with applications also having to be supported by two current Golden Keys members before a strict interview process.

Antony Lynch, President for The Society of the Golden Keys said: “We are delighted to be celebrating the 65th year of The Society of the Golden Keys in Great Britain. We hope that the birthday celebrations will give concierges all over Britain the chance to gain recognition for the huge contribution they make to tourism and to society as a whole.”

Guy Hilton, General Manager, The Waldorf Hilton added: “Daniel brings a personal touch that really makes a difference to our guests. He is always calm, cheerful and eager to help; he is a real credit to our team. He truly believes in the hotel’s service culture, and continues to evolve and expand his knowledge every day. We want to provide the finest level of personalised services, amenities and experiences for our guests; and Daniel is at the heart of that.”

Daniel Firth joined The Waldorf Hilton in 2008, having previously worked at The Langham Hotel. Overseeing a team of 15 at the hotel, he has had a real impact on both the visitor experience and wider team.

Daniel Firth, Head Concierge, The Waldorf Hilton said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have been nominated for London Concierge of the Year. To be named alongside some of the most respected concierges who work at some of the best hotels, is a real honour. I love what I do and there really is nothing better than making a difference to our guests’ stay.”
