Mystery Box Rally is enticing overseas travellers to enjoy a unique experience in Outback Australia

Offering more than any other fundraising opportunity, Mystery Box Rally is for those that crave adventure and embrace mystery.

It’s easy, all you do is fly into the departure city with no car and no idea where you are going. Around 75 cars take part in each rally over 5 days and your only obligation is raising much-needed funds for cancer research. Registrations are now open for Mystery Box in 2015 with two rallies planned – one leaving Townsville on 22nd August and the other departing Sydney on 28th November.

“I heard about the rally through Triple J and I thought, that sounds like heaps of fun! So I called Jimbo in LA who has always wanted to get out to the outback, and this seemed like a great way for two mates to do it. He, like me, enjoys pushing cars to the limit, especially if they only need to last for one week – although usually they cost more than $1,000. We had no idea what we were in for and what kind of car we would be driving but Jimbo was quick to hop a flight out and be part of Mystery Box Rally.” – Henry from TEAM Da Evel Knievels

There is no better way to discover the unique country hospitality in often remote destinations than participating in Mystery Box Rally. And you do not need to know anything about cars to be part of the rally, as we have mobile support crew to help keep you on the road – you just need a sense of adventure and a friend to share it with you.

Right now we are telling the world about the incredible experiences, produce, festivals, wine and food this country has to offer. And we feel Mystery Box has a unique role to play for those looking for a different way to experience Australia. We have had participants from places such as the US, France and Ireland who wanted a genuine and real look at the diversity of this incredible country and by not telling them where they are going it only adds to the craziness. We welcome anyone from Australia and beyond to get involved.” – James Freeman, Founder Mystery Box Rally

On the run, I think the best time was the river crossing. It was the most mechanically challenging because we sucked in water. After some advice from the mobile support team, we pulled out all the spark plugs to prevent the cylinders from blowing out. It was a great day. And the coolest thing I found along the way? The opal shop near Yowah… or maybe the wild boar skull laying next to the road when we broke down somewhere at the back of…

I think Mystery Box Rally is fun for anyone that likes to drive and wants to see some countryside. And it’s even better that it’s for a great cause…. and what is not to love about spending some quality time in country pubs with some new friends you meet along the way.” – Jimbo from TEAM Da Evel Knievels

Registrations are now open for Mystery Box Rally 22nd – 23rd August starting in Townsville and 28th Nov – 2nd Dec kicking off in Sydney in 2015.
