Rice & Chilli, the fashionable new Thai restaurant at Level 5 Mode Sathorn, beside Surasak skytrain station, presents an indulgent new spin on TGIF (Thank God It’s Friday) euphoria with Thai Gastronomy Inspiring Friday, inviting unlimited orders of Thai delicacies from a specially created menu every Friday evening from 18.30 – 23.00 hrs.

Thai Gourmet Inspiration FridayA banquet of authentic yet creative Thai cuisine unfolds as every dish is cooked fresh to order by talented Executive Sous Chef Suthon Polkamchat and his expert team. Adding extra spice to the experience, guests can see the food being prepared in Rice & Chilli’s theatre kitchen.

Priced at 1,200 baht net for food only, the menu offers a myriad of appetizers, hot soups, curry, main dishes and desserts, from which guests can order as many as they like.

Salmon Choe Numpla, for example, is a long rectangular plate set with shooter glasses brimming with an oozy blush pink cold soup topped with a sprig of mint, hiding inside which are fat roll mops of fresh-poached Norwegian salmon.

Massaman Nong Gae takes the popular southern curry to another level with marinated Australian lamb shank in a rich peanutty gravy with pearl onion, cherry tomatoes and balls of sweet potato. The fruity and slightly sharp vinegar and shallot condiment that complements such curries so wonderfully accompanies the main dish.

Chef’s extra care and flare are also particularly evident in one of the desserts, Sala Loy Kaew, chilled salak in syrup garnished with fresh strawberry.

At Rice & Chilli, you spill directly from the elevator into a red reception area with a bar and stools to perch on. Ahead is a floor to ceiling glass wine cellar wall and behind an intricately patterned lacquer door to a plush red private dining room.

Dining tables in the main restaurant are arranged in a single row all along an elegantly latticed window wall that invites the metro milieu outside inside. They are covered with creamy white cloths and fine dining place settings. On a lower level, tables are surrounded by white leatherette moulded chairs, at once minimalist and chic. Upper level tables and a couple below are partially framed with white sheers like wisps of steam from boiling rice. Behind the restaurant’s low-slung bar, long-lasting, Thai-style and classic cocktails are shaken and stirred by specialist mixologists.

Advance bookings are recommended.
