“These expanded flights, along with the reinstatement of direct flights to San Francisco, will help to further boost the growth we have seen out of the US in recent months,” ATEC Managing Director, Peter Shelley said today.
“The US is one of or strongest traditional markets which suffered significantly during the GFC, and is now rebounding strongly on the back of the US economic recovery.
“We are now seeing growth out of the US of more than 10% year on year and this is some of the strongest growth we have seen since the 2000 Olympics, clearly we are back on the agenda of American travel.”
Mr Shelley said the new expanded alliance and routes would help to support this growth and further strengthen opportunities for Australia.
“ATEC is in the process of surveying members on forward projections through its International Marketing Monitor survey and the results are showing the US is back on the rise.
“Early trends we have seen from our analysis of members show strong forward projections for the US market.
“We are mid-way through the survey we have already seen 80% of participants predict a growth of visitors from the US over the next 12 months.”
