AN upgrading for its hallmark ”Grand Tour of South Africa” and the introduction of a choice of new shorter, competitively priced packages to Kruger National Park for first time visitors are some of the highlights of Bench International’s 2015 brochure released this week.

The Grand Tour has been through many variations in its 45 years operation by Bench but this latest version offers better accommodation, includes even more excursions and has a limit of only 16 passengers per departure.

Travelling from Johannesburg to Cape Town or vice versa it offers an expansive view of Kruger National Park,  Zululand, the magnificent Garden Route  and Cape Town.

The Grand Tour is ideal for first-time travellers with more than two weeks to travel, but Bench has also launched some new four and five-day packages to Kruger National Park which are designed for a Cape Town add-on for travellers with limited time.

One of these is Adventurous Kruger Park, a six-day itinerary exploring one of the world’s richest diversities of fauna and flora with guided walks and open-vehicle game driving, transport, accommodation and meals from just $1020 per person.

Bench product director, Fiona Orton has also offered a wider choice of private game lodge and tented camp experiences at places like Kapama Buffalo Camp in the Timbavati area, and the luxurious Chitwa Chitwa in the Sabi Sand, a private reserve favoured by honeymooners.

She said that Chitwa Chitwa offers a superb three night stay with all meals and local wines and beers, plus three nights at the African Elite Apartments on Cape Town’s waterfront for a very competitive $2995.

Ms Orton said that 2015 would continue to see Bench operate its extremely popular programs in southern Africa toBotswana, Zambia and Namibia, as well as Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda in east Africa and add new itineraries in re-emerging Zimbabwe.
