New Burma Coastal Expedition…And Other News And Offers

August 18, 2015 River Cruising No Comments Email Email

New rules from Burma’s Inland Waterways Department will restrict the passage of river ships with a draft of more than 5ft in March and April 2016 on the Irrawaddy River between Pagan and Mandalay. All Pandaw’s ships have drafts lower than 5ft and will NOT BE AFFECTED BY THESE RULES. However, other operators ships with deeper drafts will not be able to sail to Mandalay, instead having to run long and tedious bus transfers and excursions to Ava, Amarapura, U Bein Bridge and Mandalay. Another reason to sell Pandaw from Pagan to Mandalay!

Our new Amazon river programme has been extremely popular. We sail on the delightful Amazon Dream ship exploring the Amazon and Tapajos rivers from Santerem. Other highlights include a stay at the Sofitel hotel located on Rio’s Copacabana beach and the Hotel das Cataratas uniquely located next to the jaw-dropping Iguacu Falls.

We have our last few cabins still available on our 22 Nov 2015 upstream sailing from Guwahati to Jorhat, exploring this wonderfully remote region. You will visit the world’s second largest river island, take safaris by boat, jeep and elephant back in search of the one-horned Rhino and rare Indian Tiger. Plus enjoy visits to the Assam tea plantations, barbeques on sandbanks and cruising in the shadow of the snow-topped Himalayas.
