New Caledonia Tourism invites wholesalers to #TasteNewCaledonia at its annual Rendezvous Workshop

This week, New Caledonia Tourism (NCTPS) held its annual Rendezvous Workshop, aimed at educating Australian wholesalers about the destination’s diverse landscape and gastronomic offerings.

Following on from the success of last year’s workshop and 2016’s 9% increase in Australian visitation to New Caledonia, NCTPS was eager to bring together the very best of the destination’s suppliers and the Australian trade.

On 27 March, 2017, 36 tour operators attended the workshop on stunning Amedee Island. Divided into three smaller groups, the participants embarked on three pre-workshop famil itineraries which showcased the diverse and unique landscapes found in New Caledonia.

One group travelled to the North for an adventure-filled itinerary which included flying over the famous mangrove formation – the Heart of Voh, scuba diving and kayaking across the clear blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. Another group explored the authentic cowboy country of beautiful Bourail on horseback, while the third group headed out to panoramic Ouvéa to uncover underwater treasures in New Caledonia’s vast lagoon.

New Caledonia Tourism Australian Director, Caroline Brunel, acknowledged the workshop as a key event in the tourism board’s annual calendar and a great opportunity for building rapport with members of the trade industry.

“The Rendezvous workshop is an important event which gives us the opportunity to strengthen our relationships with key members of the trade industry in both Australia and New Zealand,” Ms Brunel said.

2016 was a successful year with an impressive 9% increase in visitors from Australia and 7.2% increase from New Zealand, evidence that the workshops and the strength of NCTPS’ wholesaler relationships had been successful.

“We rely on our valuable network of wholesalers to encourage travellers to choose New Caledonia for their next holiday. The workshop provides us with an avenue to inform wholesalers about new business opportunities and products, as well as enhance their knowledge of the destination,” Ms Brunel continued.

In alignment with the tourist board’s latest consumer campaign #TasteNewCaledonia, this year’s workshop positioned New Caledonia front-of-mind as a foodie destination for wholesalers and strengthened their knowledge of the destination’s gastronomic offerings and experiences.
