Australian wholesalers have traded the winter blues for the magnificent blue waters, white sands and French infused cuisine of New Caledonia, as part of New Caledonia’s annual Rendezvous Workshop.
Following on from the success of last year’s event, this year’s workshop has been designed to provide a platform for face-to-face introductions, enabling wholesalers to discover new products and discuss possible business opportunities with local suppliers, all in the spectacular surroundings of New Caledonia.
New Caledonia Tourism’s sales and marketing director, Caroline Brunel, said Australians love visiting New Caledonia as it’s so close and yet a world away.
“Their love affair with New Cal has strengthened over the past 12 months with figures showing a 15.8 per cent increase in inbound Aussie visitors,” said Ms Brunel.
“With increased connectivity via the national carrier Aircalin, global investment and product development including the new Hilton Lifou Wadra Bay Resort, with its 50-room hotel set to open in 2019, New Caledonia has never been in better shape for tourism growth.”
“To support this momentum we will be concentrating on strengthening the profile of New Caledonia in the market through strategic partnerships, maintaining our strong digital presence, as well as through a number of trade initiatives.”
Product managers and travel trade have already kicked off the week-long event with a pre-famil through the cosmopolitan capital, Noumea and pristine Isle of Pines. A post famil itinerary will follow and cover the rugged wilderness of the North and the untouched Loyalty Island of Mare.
