The State of Vermont has announced a new Commissioner of Tourism and Marketing.  Wendy Knight a former New York Times freelance Journalist and professional marketer joined the department in May from her own agency.   The Commissioner, a Vermonter for more than 25 years, and the tourism and marketing team have hit the ground running with a new plan to grow international tourism into every town and village of the Green Mountain State.

The Vermont 251 campaign (named after the 251 picturesque towns that make up the State) will invite visitors to experience life in one of the USA’s, greenest, safest, least populated and most artistically creative States.

“Attracting international visitors is a key priority for the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing. The unique travel experiences found in each of Vermont’s 251 towns help draw more than 100,000 overseas guests to our state each year,” said Commissioner Knight.

“Farm-to-table dining, authentic artisan shops, beautiful scenery and boundless outdoor recreation opportunities are all part of the tourism landscape that sets Vermont apart as a top destination for international travellers in the United States.”

The Vermont 251 campaign has launched with a social media campaign and will roll out over the next twelve months through building dialogue and educational opportunities with the international tourism industry and press.
