New dating app lets you find companions in flight

December 20, 2016 Headline News No Comments Email Email

A software developer has come up with a mobile dating app called AirDates, which works along the lines of Tinder but specialises in air travellers seeking to connect after, or possibly during, their flights.

Tech and social media site Mashable has interviewed the app’s founder, former real estate developer Michael Richard, who says the app aims to help travellers make “connections in the air”.

Richard said he previously used dating apps and realised that the only time he couldn’t use them was when he was flying. The suggested a market existed.

Richard said the app was currently in beta test mode “but already it’s taken off” after appearing at the Disrupt London conference last week.

After users sign up, they can share their flight itineraries. The plan is to distribute AirDates more widely next year.
