Dubai government owned Dubai Parks and Resorts announced at Arabian Travel Market 2015 that the construction of its $2.9bn integrated theme park in Dubai is 50% complete.
The park will include Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai and LEGOLAND Dubai and all three are reported to be opening at the same time in October 2016, with Dubai Parks and Resorts claiming that this will be the first time any destination in the world will open three parks at once.
With Elwin Kemming, Head of Destination sales for Dubai Park & Resorts claiming there will be no delays, he was not able to discuss Motiongate and Bollywood, due to commercial reasons, but I was able to have a chat with Heather Bumgarner, Head of Marketing for LEGOLAND Dubai.
With families being a key demographic target for Dubai as part of His Highness Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision for Dubai, the completion of the three parks will be important in attracting staying family traffic to Dubai from Australia and also from Europe and elsewhere, rather than just a stopover.
The three parks will also offer quality accommodation in the form of Lapita, a Polynesian style hotel
