Setin the vibrant heart of Cape Town, Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel has long been the venue of choice for meetings, banquets and weddings in South Africa. Enjoying a superb location at the foot of Table Mountain and in a tranquil garden setting, the hotelrecently unveiled four completely renovated function rooms which have been refurbished by New York City-based design company Champalimaud. Combining graceful furnishings with original features and state-of-the-art technology the rooms are flooded with daylight creating the ideal option for those looking to hold an event in the city.
Playing on depth, layers and intrigue, the Ballroom has evolved into a space for grand celebrations. One of its key features is the carpet which has been custom-made in South Africa and features designs of soaring peacocks and intricate floral details. Still classical, but breaking away from the typical formalities of a ballroom, this elegant room is perfect for wedding receptions, gala dinners, product launches, conferences and exhibitions. The Ballroom can accommodate up to 400 guests for cocktails or 240 for a sit-down banquet.
The Sherwood Room
The prominent arches and rich oak panels remain the focal architectural feature of the hotel’s original dining room, whilst the vibrant marigold curtains and the soft yellow ripples on the carpet add a “pop” of colour to brighten up the interiors, reflecting happy summer days. The Sherwood Room can accommodate up to 90 guests.
The Lord Nelson Room
The Lord Nelson Room was originally the hotel’s cosy and intimate bar. Keeping the luscious masculine mahogany oak paneling and the original fireplace, the room has been modernised and softened with lilac Giordano taffeta curtains and lavender and cream coloured patterned carpet. The room has a maximum capacity of 30 guests.
The Union Castle Boardroom
The existing architecture is highlighted with its soft-curving dome and wooden beams, reminiscent of Union Castle ocean liner cabin interiors. The design and colour inspiration comes from the earthy tones of the South African landscape. Repetitive, strong, contrasting tones add a contemporary touch to this venue, which is ideally suited to board meetings and smaller conferences, as well as formal lunches and dinners. The Union Castle Boardroom can accommodate up to 15 guests.
Other banqueting venues at Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel:
The Grill Room has the air of a classic polo lounge with a separate boothed area which is perfect for setting up a bar. It is ideal for dinner dances, informal cocktails, and perhaps even a show or theatre performance.
The Green Park Room and terraceis situated in the Green Park wing of the hotel. It is a smaller venue, with plenty of natural light coming through the big bay windows. The room also leads onto an outdoor terrace. It is perfectly suited to intimate events such as small day conferences and celebratory occasions.
The Orchid Room caters primarily for much smaller groups and is popular for private or business lunches and meetings.
All banqueting and meeting rooms are equipped with a state-of-the-art network infrastructure to connect venues or floor boxes via an IP-based system.
