New for the summer holidays – ‘Island Eco Tents’ take camping upmarket on Straddie

North Stradbroke Island’s Minjerribah Camping will launch twelve new permanent Island Eco Tents from 11 December 2017 at picturesque Adder Rock Camping Ground near Point Lookout on the north coast of the Island.

The high-quality, low-impact, tents – produced by Australian company, Eco Structures Australia – blend harmoniously into the camping ground’s natural bushland setting, sheltered behind native tea tree and pandanus forests. The tents are just a short walk to a patrolled beach (during holiday periods) and have direct access to Home Beach and Adder Rock surf beaches.

There are nine tents for couples and three family tents that include an annex with bunk beds for the children. Opening rates for the new tents start from $149 per night.

All Island Eco Tents feature quality queen size beds and linen, exterior decking with an adult size freestanding hammock, large fly windows and doors, canvas shutters that can be opened or closed according to conditions, ceiling fans, tables and chairs, full electric powering, refrigerator and storage facilities.

Guests have access to Adder Rock Campsite’s communal bathroom and cooking facilities. Adjacent to the campsite is a general store and scuba dive centre, and shops, restaurants and tour operators are located a short drive away in the Point Lookout village.

The Island Eco Tents are the latest addition to the Adder Rock Camping Ground accommodation range, and will complement the permanent Glamping Tents that were launched earlier this year.

Announcing the 11 December launch date, Minjerribah Camping’s Hugo Johnston, said the new accommodation would be ideal for couples and families wanting to get back to nature, but with an added level of comfort.

“You are in the midst of a really attractive setting, there’s a choice of beautiful beaches on your doorstep, and now you will have the choice of traditional camping sites, Glamping tents and these really well-designed and comfortable Island Eco Tents,” said Mr Johnston.

“For those who love the atmosphere of a camping ground, there will be all the usual benefits, but instead of having to do all the work putting up and taking down the tent and bringing all the equipment, everything is done for you so that you can spend more time enjoying the beautiful island and its myriad attractions and activities.”

North Stradbroke Island – known as Minjerribah to the traditional owners (the Quandamooka People) or ‘Straddie’ colloquially – is renowned for its natural beauty and relaxed vibe. Located in Moreton Bay, just a short ferry ride from the Brisbane suburb of Cleveland, ‘Straddie’ is a favourite holiday playground, with a myriad range of activities and attractions ideally suited for couples, families and groups.

There is limited availability for tents and sites at Adder Rock Camp Ground over the Christmas/summer holiday period. Full details – www.straddiecamping.com.au
