Stamford Hotels & Resorts has appointed Adam Haywood as the new general manager of its five-star Glenelg hotel, the Stamford Grand Adelaide.
Mr Haywood, who hails from Christchurch, has relocated to Adelaide from China with his wife and three-year old daughter to take up the prestigious role.
He has 22 years of experience in the industry initially working as an award-winning chef in the UK, the West Indies, Malaysia and New Zealand before moving into senior operational management roles.
Stamford Hotels Adelaide Area General Manager Russell Cool said Mr Haywood was a natural choice for the position with his extensive experience at top-tier hotels across the world.
“We’re thrilled to have Adam join the Stamford Hotels team and I have no doubt that he will continue to build the Grand’s reputation as a first-class hotel that exceeds guests’ expectations. Given his impressive culinary resume, we’re particularly excited to see his vision for our food and beverage offerings,” Mr Cool said.
In recent years, Mr Haywood has held positions as the Director of Food and Beverage at The Sentosa Resort & Spa in Singapore, the Executive Assistant Manager at G Hotel in Penang, Malaysia, and most recently Hotel Manager of The Westin, Beijing.
Mr Haywood said he was attracted to Adelaide because of its relaxed lifestyle, good weather and world-class food and wine sector.
“It was a perfect choice for my family and I’m looking forward to getting to know Adelaide inside out,” Mr Haywood said.
