Top of the list are grass-roots activities and junior development in order to groom new talent, as well as making the game more accessible to everyone.

“This is a great opportunity for me as I am passionate about golf and its potential for growth,” said Yan, who takes over from Peter Teo.

“And I truly believe that sports (particularly golf) can build good characters and values such as discipline, perseverance and patience.”

Yan has spent more than 20 years in sports management after graduating with an MBA in Business, majoring in Marketing, at Newcastle Business School in the United Kingdom.

For the past three years she was the General Manager of the Singapore Hockey Federation, and has also worked for California Fitness, SAFRA, and the Singapore Cricket Club.

“The Singapore Golf Association wants to make some firm strides forward and with Geraldine’s experience and professionalism we believe we are well placed to do that,” said Ross Tan, President, SGA.

Yan’s first major event as General Manager will be the Singapore Ladies Amateur Open from March 20-23 at Laguna National Golf and Country Club, a Golf Course Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
