New ‘Home Away From Home’ Silverkris Lounge in Brisbane

image003Singapore Airlines (SIA) today announced that its new-concept SilverKris Lounge at Brisbane International Airport will officially open onTuesday 7 June.

As a part of an ongoing multi-million dollar investment program to upgrade all of the Airline’s airport lounges around the world, the new lounge located on level 4, offers views of the departure area and runway.

First introduced in Sydney, the new ‘Home Away From Home’ SilverKris Lounge showcases SIA’s unique heritage highlighted by a customised batik design screen in the welcome foyer. The inspiration of the batik screen is the iconic sarong kebaya, which is a theme that runs across all ‘home away from home’ lounges.

The newly unveiled screen in Brisbane however, is a modern and contemporary evolution of its predecessors in Sydney, Hong Kong, London and Manila. Brisbane’s SilverKris Lounge is the first to be fitted with a new, modern batik screen, which reflects the merging of traditional painting techniques with cutting-edge design elements.

Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President, Mr Tan Tiow Kor said he was excited to be launching the new ‘Home Away From Home’ lounge in Brisbane.

“The new-concept SilverKris Lounge is thoughtfully designed and modelled on elements of a home,” Mr Tan said

“It has been designed with the guidance of extensive research from customer focus groups, which has helped us deliver a spacious and enjoyable lounge experience.”

“I am pleased to be able to offer our Queensland customers the opportunity to experience and enjoy our latest lounge design, which has received positive feedback from customers since the new design was launched in Sydney.”

The new lounge welcomed its first guests last night after it began operating following its completion late last week.

Guests can look forward to distinct personal spaces that provide a sense of ‘being home’, as well as more personalised services from lounge staff along with a delectable selection of food and beverages to complement SIA’s in-flight offerings.

Delivery of the new ‘Home Away from Home’ SilverKris lounge at Brisbane airport comes as Singapore Airlines launches a fourth flight from Singapore to Brisbane. On 28 May, SQ265/266 will operate three times a week and will be serviced by a two class A330-300 aircraft.

Delectable satay

The decision to increase capacity into Brisbane by almost 15% came off the back of a strong 12 months for the Queensland market and reinforces Singapore Airlines commitment to servicing Brisbane.

Customers travelling on Business Class or are members of the PPS Club and Krisflyer Elite Gold departing on Singapore Airlines operated flights as well as STAR Alliance Gold, Virgin Australia Velocity Gold and Velocity Platinum card members will be able to access the Lounge.

The new SilverKris lounge is open to customers from three hours prior to departure of flights SQ256, SQ236, SQ266* and SQ246, seven days a week.

A Home Away From Home

The lounge features tastefully selected art pieces, sourced locally and from Singapore. Customers can make use of personal spaces tailored for different needs, ranging from a living room, kitchen and dining room to intimate coves for rest and relaxation.

Specially designed productivity pods will enable customers to work in privacy and comfort before their flight, while signature SIA armchairs will be a new feature at all refurbished SilverKris Lounges.

A familiar ‘taste of Singapore’ concept will also be progressively introduced at all SilverKris Lounges, with iconic dishes from Singapore such as laksa, satay and mee siam offered alongside delectable food choices from around the world and a wide range of premium wines and spirits.

To complete the ‘home’ experience, Passenger Relations Officers, trained to deliver the personal SIA touch, will be on hand to host each customer and assist with their travel needs.
