New InterContinental Sydney Double Bay to be Haven for Gourmands

Double Bay is fast becoming the Sydney hot spot for food and wine experiences, with two more exciting culinary offerings confirmed for the retail ground floor of the soon-to-open InterContinental Sydney Double Bay.

After signing leases with hotel owner Royal Hotels Australia Pty Ltd, Bondi institutes Henley Wholefoods and Shuk Bakery join the Double Bay extension of Shaun Presland’s award-winning contemporary Japanese Saké Restaurant & Bar, and a restaurant and bar project from The Group, headed by Eastern Suburbs locals Adam Abrams and Julian Tobias, operators of The Island, and Eddie Levy and Michael Hwang, operators of The Lobo Plantation.

The new offerings will complement InterContinental Sydney Double Bay’s own first-floor restaurant and bar, headed up by talented Executive Chef Julien Pouteau.

Marking the first expansion of their North Bondi marketplace-style premises, Shuk will introduce an artisan bakery to the ground floor space, offering an array of fresh homemade loaves and pastries influenced by Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine.

Boutique wholefoods café Henley’s Wholefoods will bring a range of healthy and delicious gluten free, dairy free and refined sugar free options to Double Bay, with a focus on sustainable, high quality produce – with meals and snacks perfect for picnics in nearby Steyne Park.

Peter Wilding, Managing Director of Royal Hotels Australia was delighted to confirm the collection of high-end dining offerings in the ground floor retail precinct of the hotel building.

“It has been a real pleasure dealing with some of Sydney’s new leaders in food. They all have travelled extensively and therefore immediately understood our vision for the property. Both Shuk and Henley’s Wholefoods complete our strategy of creating one of the most exciting entertainment places in Sydney.”

InterContinental Sydney Double Bay General Manager, Frederic Brohez said the new offerings would be a great complement to the hotel’s own the bar and restaurant on the first floor.

“InterContinental Sydney Double Bay is destined to be a hub of dining and entertainment from the moment it opens in November, with our destination restaurant and concept bar, with exciting fresh produce-driven menus led by Executive Chef, Julien Pouteau, amplified further when the retail ground floor offerings come together. It’s a very exciting time for Double Bay and the Eastern Suburbs in general.”

The building’s ground floor retail precinct will also feature a wellness centre and 24-hour gym, open to both locals and hotel guests.

InterContinental Sydney Double Bay will also offer a rooftop pool and lounge overlooking Double Bay, 140 stunning guest rooms and suites, six flexible event spaces including the Grand Ballroom, world-class concierge, exclusive Club InterContinental lounge featuring a French provincial courtyard.
