external-pic-2A new ‘Bank Holiday’ offer will see guests who invest two nights at the new Old Bank Boutique Hotel in Mittagong save 15 per cent on the second night.

Sunday night dinners have also been introduced at the luxury, two-store heritage property, which opened in the historic Southern Highlands town, 80 minutes from Sydney, last month after a seven-year restoration of the 124-year-old former bank in Mittagong’s main street.

The new two-night deal at the Old Bank Boutique Hotel is valid until December 30, 2016, allowing guests to experience the grandeur of the building’s history and the comforts of the 21st century.

The Victorian-Romanesque-styled property was built in 1892 and operated as a bank and bank manager’s residence for many years until falling into disrepair in the 1970s. In 2009, Southern Highlanders Warwick and Barbara Wainberg purchased the property and embarked on a huge restoration project to return the stately building to its former glory.

Featuring five deluxe, individually themed suites as well as a studio and free-standing cottage, the hotel is fitted with polished wooden floors, leather chesterfield lounges in the cosy library and lounge, open fireplaces, and dozens of historic photographs capturing life in the Southern Highlands over a century ago. With personal service, hearty country breakfasts, complimentary afternoon tea and a farewell gift of home-made jam, a ‘bank holiday’ at the exquisitely restored Old Bank is certain to reap interest.

During their stay at the Old Bank, guests can visit the Highlands’ many galleries, gardens, museums, antique stores, boutiques, picnic areas, restaurants, cafes, wineries, walking trails, bicycle tracks and golf courses.

Including the 15 per cent discount on the second night, a two-night stay at the Old Bank is now available from $545 per couple, or $272 per night. The deal is valid until December 30, 2016, and excludes Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Included are full cooked breakfasts for two guests and afternoon tea.

Three-course dinners are now also available on Sundays from $75 per person, with selected beers and local Southern Highland wines also available from the bank’s wine cellar, located in the original bank vault. Free wi-fi in house and complimentary pick-ups from Mittagong Railway Station are also offered.
