New Sai Ying Pun Bottle Shop on Fuk Sau Lane: Fresh Orgasmic Bottles

And so began Fresh Orgasmic Bottles. Orgasms are disruptive, dramatic, exciting, but beautifully so. And so are our wines – they’re raw, teeming with energy and every single one is different. 

By curating bottles from small producers all over the world, we’ve created a unique collection that embraces the dynamism and innovation that is so often overlooked in the mainstream wine industry. And are proud to introduce Sai Ying Pun’s Fresh Orgasmic Bottles.

For nearly a decade, the global wine business has been on a steep upward curve, but only in recent years have businesses and consumers alike started to explore the yet-defined, but wildly appealing world of natural and biodynamic wines. These are wines produced with minimal intervention in vibrant vineyards with an “actual pulse”, lovingly created by a new generation of renegade winemakers dead-set on revolutionising the industry in a fresh, ethical way. Cultivated by purists, these wines are as naked and unadulterated as they come.

 ‘Palatable’. ‘Tannic’. ‘An oaky finish, with light hints of mulberry’. These are words that once completely flew over my head while I attended wine appreciation class in the prestigious Ferrandi School of Culinary Arts in Paris. There was such a frustrating disconnect between the theory I was taught and the raw emotion that I tasted. This would ultimately help shape my down-to-earth approach to “education without humiliation”, and set the groundwork for my journey into the world of natural, biodynamic wines.

After working in everything from pizzerias to Michelin-starred hotspots, I left Paris and set my sights on Hong Kong. I recall being at a house party and being handed a glass of natural red wine – a  stunning 2005 Jean Foillard Morgon Cuvee 3.14. Then it all clicked. Instead of berry or oak, I tasted animal, game, farm, earth… and it was beautiful. It was in that moment that my love affair with biodynamic, disruptive, in-your-face wines began.

Partnering with Locofama Group, Larry and I are calling all of Hong Kong to ‘think about what they drink differently’.  We are excited to do our part in giving back to the local community through our ‘Drink For Good; program, which sees us donating $10 of every bottle purchase to different charities around Hong Kong.
