A major upgrade of the swimming pool area and installation of new water slides at North Star Holiday Resort at Hastings Point was completed in September, just in time for the school holiday season.

Alongside North Star’s popular Sammy’s Adventure Lagoon, the two new 8.2-metre-high tubular water slides add water-fuelled fun at every twist and turn as they spiral their way more than 60 metres down to poolside landing platforms below.

It’s been a marathon journey that’s taken almost four years and cost more than $1.5M but Ian and Diana Beadel’s dream of building new waterslides at their North Star Holiday Resort at Hastings Point has finally come true.

The construction of the slides and remodelling of the existing lagoon pool was carried out by Australia’s leading water slide experts, Swimplex Aquatics. The innovative Coffs Harbour-based pool company added new technology features to the slides, including built-in clear screens. The slide experience comes with an element of surprise, with a dramatic ‘disco light’ effect on the way down created by natural light shining through colours surrounding the tubes.

North Star owners Ian and Diana Beadel said the new waterslides will be “the icing on the cake” for families holidaying at his iconic Tweed Coast resort.

“Side-by-side, we have a multimillion-dollar waterpark and now the new water slides, taking North Star’s appeal to families with kids to a whole new level,” said Ian.

Theo Whitmont, President of the Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW, congratulated the Beadels and said, “The new waterslides are extraordinary, a marvel of an engineering feat, a feast for the eyes and soon to be an unending source of joy for kids, and bigger kids, for generations to come.”

“They have built possibly the best holiday park in Australia, piece by piece and year by year, ever improving, always looking for ways to bring great holidays to Aussie families. “

Once guests arrive at North Star, they can leave the car in its parking spot, put the wallet away, and sit back and relax while the kids make the most of the unlimited free family fun.

Kids can spend their days charging between Sammy’s Adventure Lagoon, the new slides and Neptune’s Castle kids’ club. All these attractions are completely free for guests, unlike many other holiday resorts. The beach and estuary are also just a few minutes’ walk from all accommodation at North Star.

North Star Marketing Manager Lisa Collier said these days, families can easily spend more than $1,000 attending multiple theme parks during their family holiday.

“Some theme parks cost more than $300 for a family of four just for entry tickets, then add to that $100 to $150 or more for meals during the day.

“A visit by the family to just one park could set you back $500, so it’s an expensive exercise.

“At North Star we have everything you need for your holiday on site, so there’s no need for long drives to expensive theme parks, long queues and outrageously expensive food,” said Lisa.

North Star cabin pricing starts from as little as $115 per night and $45 per night for sites.
