One of the many new tourism businesses in Airlie Beach, Whitsunday Segway Tours, has opened up to the public to help name each of their eight Segways.
Whitsunday Segway Tours is asking for help to name their Segways.
Owner Zak Kelly said he was looking for memorable, cool and appropriate names.
“With our business just six months old, we realised that we never properly christened our Segways by giving them a proper name instead of a number!” Mr Kelly said.
“We are a fun, soft adventure tour and we are looking for names that reflect that experience,” he said.
“We’d love some contributions from fellow industry members and operators, trade and our customers to help us name our Segways – and we’re giving away free tours to the winners!”
Ideas can be submitted via the company’s Facebook page, with submissions open for the next month.
You can enter multiple name suggestions, and each name that is chosen will be awarded a free Segway tour.
“Gliding on a Segway is such a unique way to enjoy Airlie Beach’s scenic boardwalk at sunset, and great fun for singles, couples, families or groups of friends,” Mr Kelly said.
“We also do tours through the Conway National Park commencing at Brandy Creek Road going 9km into the rainforest to Impulse Creek for morning tea – a lesser known but equally beautiful side of the Whitsundays,” he said.
“And the best thing is, you don’t need any experience, just about anyone can ride a Segway, it’s great fun!”
Whitsundays Marketing and Development Executive Director Jeff Aquilina said it was an exciting time for Airlie Beach.
“For many years Airlie Beach has been crying out for land based activities, and now we have a really good range of choice – from these Segway tours, to aqua parks and paddle boarding – it is wonderful to see so many new businesses investing in Airlie Beach,” Mr Aquilina said.
