This December, Blount Small Ship Adventures is heading to Belize and Guatemala for an amazing 12-day cruise. BSSA will offer a departure over the holiday with a New Years cruise departing on December 28th   from Belize City, Belize. In addition to a 25% off savings per person, Blount is also offering passengers a free early arrival on December 27th, which includes 1 night onboard the vessel in Belize City, dinner and breakfast the following morning. The sale ends November 15, 2017.

To ring in the New Year, a themed masquerade party will take place on the Grande Mariner’s top deck, with a champagne toast at midnight and dancing under the stars.  The following morning, guests will enjoy a special New Years brunch. Travelers will explore various cays and ports including Southwater Caye, Man-O-War Caye, Placencia and Punta Gorda in Belize; and Livingston, Nana Juana and Castillo de San Felipe in Guatemala. Two other departure dates for the winter season include a birder’s cruise on January 11th and a departure on January 24th, 2018. View full itinerary here.

This itinerary hosts a naturalist who will travel with passengers throughout the entire journey. Luz Hunter, who has been working with Blount for over 10 years is a Belize local and expert in the area’s wildlife. In 2017 she was named an Ocean Hero by Oceana, the largest international advocacy group working to protect the world’s oceans. Complimentary kayaking and snorkeling are featured prominently on this itinerary as Belize is known for having one of the largest and most celebrated barrier reefs in the world. In addition, passengers will experience Blount’s patented glass-bottom boat. According to Nancy Blount, the small ship company’s President and CEO, Belize has always been a favorite for her clients, and for her as well. “It’s a spectacular part of the world and because of the patented design of our ships, we literally take travelers where other ships cannot go.  It’s one of my absolute favorite trips in the history of our company.”

BSSA has been taking travelers to Belize since 1988 when Captain Luther Blount, Nancy’s father and founder of the cruise line, first developed the program.  In April of 1988, Blount took a group of passengers on an “Exploration Cruise” to Belize after picking up on travel trends. Belize had recently been identified as a “find for travel enlightened people” by the CBS program 60 Minutes.”   There was no formal itinerary on that first cruise. The goal was that together Captain Blount and his travelers would discover the best places and experiences that this nation on the coast of Central America offered.  In the 30 years since, BSSA has continued cruising Belize, adding Guatemala and Honduras to various itineraries.

All Blount cruises include three meals daily with menus that are fresh, creative and often reflect the local cuisine, refreshments and snacks 24-hours a day, plus guest lectures and workshops. Single-seating meals with an open seating policy allows for the freedom to meet many traveling companions. Blount cruises also feature a BYOB policy, with mixers and set-ups for cocktails available throughout the day, along with complimentary wine and beer offered during lunch and dinner.
