New Zealand Travel Guide to Lower South Island shows Great Scone Trail

A new, free independent online guide to New Zealand’s lower South Island has been launched with a unique point of difference to benefit travellers.

The Good South travel website was created for the independent traveller as well as providing a digital roadmap to rural cafes and bakeries via The Great Scone Trail. Written by locals who know the area and using digitally interactive maps for itineraries, the guide enables travellers to get off the beaten track and explore the South.

Wanaka writer Tim Brewster created the guide after traveling the itineraries through the lower south island himself to ensure authenticity. After visiting the establishments in the Great Scone Trail, he followed up with opinions from other travellers on the quality of their food and service to provide a comprehensive guide.

The extensive online reach of the site and the technology to enable accessible easy to use information was enabled by digital marketing consultancy Optymise. During a brandstorming exercise with Optymise founder Robyn Macdonald, The Great Scone Trail concept was developed. The result is a guide combining old-fashioned research, authentic travel writing and quality images boosted by contemporary digital technology and the latest search engine optimisation methods.
