Dartmoor is on the doorstep of Plymouth and it has so much to offer year-round.  This month we celebrate the start of National Parks Week from 23-29 and Dartmoor National Park has a host of events on offer.  The highlight of the week will be the Dartmoor National Park Summer Fair on 21 July.

Held at the National Park Visitor Centre in Princetown, this free family event will give visitors the opportunity to meet the Dartmoor range producers as well as to try and buy their stunning Dartmoor inspired products: meet Lily Warne’s heritage Dartmoor breed sheep; take part in an outdoor lab and bug hunt in the Dartmoor Conservation Garden; join the experts from The Box, Plymouth (previously Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery) in discovering their archaeological finds; discover Dartmoor with a local expert for a guided walk; explore just what it takes to join Dartmoor Search and Rescue and be one of the first to buy the new Dartmoor Guide as it is launched at the Fair.  Meet the author, Josephine Collingwood, who will be on hand to sign copies. The Centre opens at 10 am for the fun to begin!

The Dartmoor Range includes HK White, Twool, Lily Warne, Dartmoor Chilli Farm, Anna Curnow, Josephine Collingwood, Blackaller Honey and Clare’s Preserves. The work of these producers is the subject of a great new exhibition at the Princetown Visitor Centre which tells their story in their own words – made on Dartmoor, inspired by Dartmoor – come along and find out more – the exhibition is free and runs until 12 August 2018.
