Sydney Airport has commenced the next stage of improvements at its T2 Domestic terminal to enhance the airport experience for customers.

Sydney Airport Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kerrie Mather welcomed the next phase of terminal improvements.

“We’ve had such fantastic feedback about our new T2 casual dining precinct and I look forward to seeing the terminal’s continued transformation as part of our commitment to enhance the customer experience,” Ms Mather said.

“These improvements will deliver a consistent look and feel across the terminal, with a greater sense of space and light.

“Better wayfinding and improved sightlines will deliver a seamless passenger journey, while exciting new retail concepts and relaxing dwell areas will create more ambience.”

The improvements will see the introduction of 10 new retail tenancies to deliver a revitalised mix of lifestyle brands for visitors, enhancing value and choice.

Areas of the terminal will be expanded and redesigned to create dwell areas with upgraded flooring, columns, lighting, ceiling finishes, and contemporary furniture with textural finishes. The terminal will be infused with additional natural light, while enhanced wayfinding will improve passenger flows and sightlines.

Significant upgrades to key bathroom amenities across T2 will improve the quality, scale and finishes of the facilities to enhance the customer experience.

A new mezzanine level will also offer additional commercial floor space.

The next stage of retail and dwell area improvements was designed by award-winning Australian design firm, Landini Associates, and follows the revitalised T2 casual dining precinct.

Its new, contemporary layout delivers a warm and relaxing environment with increased seating capacity to cater for the millions of passengers who travel through T2 each year. The precinct showcases first-to-Australia offerings, cult sushi brand YO! Sushi and popular Danish juice bar concept Joe & The Juice, as well as Krispy Kreme and Soul Origin, enhancing value and choice.

Customers are enjoying improved amenities, new seating options and connectivity with the introduction of smart device charging stations, allowing travellers to work remotely or connect with friends and family before take-off via Sydney Airport’s free Wi-Fi network.

Enhanced intuitive traffic flow features new navigation signage and updated flight information display screens, allowing passengers to find their way to departure gates and airport services more easily. Google Maps of the terminal precinct also allow customers to locate retail outlets, amenities and gates from the palm of their hand.

The next stage of works are due for completion by end of 2018. Sydney Airport will work with our stakeholders to keep passengers informed and minimise inconvenience during this time.
