Nick Coward, a travel industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience, has stepped into his role as Tauck’s National Sales Manager for the Australian market. His appointment is effective immediately, and Coward and his family have recently relocated from Vancouver, Canada, to Sydney. In his new role, Coward joins Tauck Sales Managers (Sharon Hando, Rachel Javier, Jim Petritsis) and the dedicated inside Tauck Sales Specialists working with the industry in an effort to continue to grow the brand presence for agency partners.
Coward’s three decades of industry experience includes positions with several major tour operators in the UK and North America including Trafalgar, Contiki, Kuoni and BA Holidays, and he has worked in tour directing, new product development, and sales management and training. Most recently, Coward served as a Tauck Cruise Director leading a team of three Tauck Director guides aboard the company’s European riverboats on itineraries sailing the Danube, Rhine and Rhone rivers.
According to Tauck’s Vice President for Global Sales Steve Spivak, Coward’s extensive background positions him perfectly to represent the company in Australia. “Nick has worked domestically and internationally, he’s worked with travel agents and with our guests, and he has ‘inside’ experience with Tauck as well as broader experience across the travel industry,” said Spivak. “I know he’ll hit the ground running, and serve as an incredible resource for our network of Australian travel agents.” A UK native, Coward studied business at University Centre Croydon. He and his wife Joanne, a native Australian, are the parents of three children, Stephanie, Jonathon and Imogen.
TAUCK’S EVENTFUL YEAR IN AUSTRALIA
Coward’s appointment is just the latest news in an eventful year for Tauck in Australia. Earlier this year – Tauck’s 25th in the Australian market – the company began pricing all of its 100+ itineraries in Australian dollars in its brochures and on its Australian website. With the move, Tauck now guarantees prices at time of deposit and it has eliminated the pricing adjustments caused in the past by exchange rate fluctuations.
In addition, Tauck has opened a Sydney-based call centre, within the offices of the Travel the World Group, eliminating the need for agents to call or email the U.S. Earlier this year, the company also held its first Tauck Academy travel agent certification program in Australia, hosting agents for an intensive, three-day educational seminar at which they learned about Tauck and its products, becoming certified resellers of Tauck, and gaining eligibility for exclusive benefits. Tauck also established an Australian Partner Advisory Board that convened for its initial meeting this year, with a second gathering (and a second Tauck Academy in Australia) scheduled for this coming November.
