The Accommodation Association of Australia has welcomed the announcement of the NSW Government’s funding for the Hunter tourism industry.

“The Accommodation Association of Australia congratulates the NSW Government and the Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres for supporting Tourism businesses that were devastated by recent storms in the Hunter region” said Richard Munro, the Association’s Chief Executive Officer.

The funding package, worth over $1 million, will be used to develop existing campaigns as well as create new marketing campaigns to promote the region.

“The pledge of an extra $1 million towards promoting the Hunter region via Destination NSW should boost visitors numbers into the Hunter region which will not only assist accommodation operators but also restaurants, retailers and all who live in the area”

As part of the funding package, additional funds will also be provided to promote the Dungong Festival to be held in October.

“Funding will assist demand drivers such as the Dungong Festival that adds to the social fabric of the area as well as providing visitors with a great reason to visit and explore the beautiful Hunter region”
