Number of people flying Hawaiian Airlines up 5.6% in June

egtmedia59Hawaiian Airlines said Wednesday that it flew 873,387 passengers in June, 5.6 percent more than the 827,319 passengers flown in June 2012.

The airline’s traffic, or revenue per passenger mile, grew 12.9 percent in June, while capacity, or available seat miles, grew 15.5 percent, Hawaiian Airlines, a subsidiary of Hawaiian Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: HA) said.

The airline’s load factor, the percentage of seats filled, declined by 1.9 percentage points to 84.6 percent in June.

Year to date, the number of passengers that flew on Hawaiian Airlines during the first six months of the year was 7.3 percent higher, while traffic grew 19 percent and capacity increased by 23.4 percent. However, the load factor for the first six months of the year declined by 3 percentage points to 80.9 percent.
