DriveAway Holidays has advised travellers planning to drive through the south island of New Zealand that they should not be deterred by recent earthquake activity.

DriveAway marketing coordinator Alicia Palmer said that whilst collection and drop-off depots are open some road closures are still in place and drivers should allow for additional travel times.

Closures include Route 70 from Waiau to Kaikoura, Leader Road in Waiau, and State Highway 1 between Cheviot and Ward.

She added, “If anyone is travelling or people know of anyone who is currently travelling throughout New Zealand and requires assistance, please refer to DriveAway Holidays at 1300 363 500.
