Oahu dolphin swim tour operator Dolphins and You will unveil the newest addition of its transportation fleet to tour guests on April 24.
The new 2019 Ecoach 45 Luxury Shuttle, named ‘Pegasus’, represents a $.5 million investment in the increasing demand for Dolphins and You tours. The 45-seat bus adds to the existing set of passenger vehicles, including two other busses with more than 40 seats and three smaller busses.
“From pick-up to drop-off, we want to give our tour guests the best experience possible,” Dolphins and You General Manager Kaina Neuman said. “We’re going to pick them up in a top-of-the-line vehicle and bring them onto the best boat we can for maximum safety and comfort.”
The new bus comes equipped with several features to benefit the guest’s experience during the around 45-minute air-conditioned drive from the pick-up in Waikiki to the boat harbor in Waianae.
It is the first bus in the fleet to give guests access to USB charging ports at each seat. The bus also has a 300 horsepower engine, surround-sound speakers, free wifi and plasma screen televisions.
The tour company has existed for 30 years, but the first Freightliner tour bus wasn’t purchased until 2014. Since then, the company has purchased a new, larger tour boat and now offers nature hiking and circle-island bus tours.
With the new tours and bigger boat, the company has the capacity to serve nearly 200 guests daily. Though the company is not serving that many customers, Neuman predicts that the seats will sell out in summer.
The company plans to purchase another 25-seat bus for the approaching busy season in preparation.
“Everything starts on the bus,” Dolphins and You Transportation Manager Tommy Smythe said. “Whether you are touring around Oahu, hiking to Manoa Falls or swimming with dolphins, we want the experience to be a good one from the moment you step on that bus.”
