Leading accommodation provider Oaks Hotels & Resorts has officially announced it will take over the management rights of Cypress Lakes Resort in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley under the direction of Thai-based parent company, Minor International PCL.
Previously managed by Grand Mecure Apartments, the take-over is targeted to complete on 17 September, 2013 and will be rebranded as Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort.

Oaks Hotels & Resorts’ CEO Brett Pointon commented: “This significant acquisition marks an exciting milestone for our company as our property expansion strategy continues on both a national and global scale. The iconic resort’s ideal location and existing accommodation and facilities present us with strong potential to attract a broad range of travellers across various markets and complements our existing portfolio of hotels and resorts perfectly.”

The sale comes at a busy time for Oaks Hotels & Resorts, last week opening its fourth and brand new Melbourne property Oaks on William, which has received excellent feedback from visitors during its first two weeks of operation. Additional expansion opportunities are also in the pipeline for the coming year, with properties in Gladstone, Milton and China currently being negotiated.

Approximately a two-hour drive from Sydney, the Hunter Valley resort letting pool comprises 125 luxury villas in a range of configurations, including one, two, three and four bedroom room types. Each villa features kitchen facilities, spacious living and dining areas, cable television and private balconies overlooking the renowned wineries.

The 100-hectare property is not only a popular choice for leisure guests visiting the region on holiday, but also large wedding and conference groups who appreciate the resort’s impressive selection of onsite venues, exquisite backdrops and superior facilities, including tennis courts, swimming pools, fully equipped gymnasium and spa.

Oaks Hotels & Resorts have not ruled out the possibility of developing the site further in the future, with talks of a new hotel and additional villas, but for now will concentrate its efforts on managing the existing resort and villas.

Oaks Hotels & Resorts is one of Australia’s largest self-contained, accommodation providers, currently incorporating a portfolio of 42 properties spanning Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South and Western Australia as well as New Zealand, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
