Leading accommodation provider Oaks Hotels & Resorts, a division of Minor Hotel Group, has encouraged its staff from all across Australia to roll up their sleeves for a good cause this month, partnering with the Australian Red Cross Blood Service to help save lives.
Dozens of Oaks Hotels & Resorts’ staff stepped up to the challenge between 23 May and 3 June as part of the Red Cross ‘Red25’ Group Donation Program, which in turn, will help to save over 90 lives and treat people with various types of cancer and blood diseases, plus other serious medical conditions affecting everyday Australians.
Employees from all divisions of the company, including sales, marketing, reservations, hotel management, revenue and front desk, were among those who donated to the cause.
Oaks Hotels & Resorts’ ‘Red25’ Group Donation Program coincides with parent company Minor Hotel Group’s annual ‘Founder’s Day’, which occurs on 4th June each year and was established to encourage all employees to spend a day supporting a charity of their choice.
Mr Mike Anderson spoke of the importance of giving back to the community, something that both Oaks Hotels & Resorts and Minor Hotel Group value highly as part of their corporate social responsibility programs.
“It’s a heartbreaking reality that cancer and blood related diseases will affect someone we all know at some point in our lives, so we are grateful for organisations like the Australian Red Cross Blood Service that are there to support the community by providing essential services, quality blood products and vital research to improve the lives of Australians in need.
“We are pleased that we could play a small role in the ‘Red25’ social responsibility program, which aims to ensure 25% of Australia’s blood donations are secured through organizations, groups, and schools, and ultimately make a meaningful difference in our community.”
