The annual awards survey readers across a wide range of categories. The results were announced at an awards ceremony in Guragon earlier this month.
The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udiapur won the award Best Luxury Resort in India, while The Oberoi, Bali was the winner for Best Destination Spa in the international category. The awards add to an impressive collection garnered by the Oberoi properties worldwide, along with over a dozen “Top 10” rankings in various competitions over the last twelve months.
THE OBEROI UDAIVILAS, UDAIPUR
Located on the bank of Lake Pichola, The Oberoi, Udaivilas stands on the 200 year old hunting grounds of the Maharana of Mewar. Spread over a luxurious twenty hectares, which includes a eight-hectare wildlife sanctuary with deer and wild boar, The Oberoi Udaivilas affords spectacular views across the verdant gardens and sparkling Lake Pichola.
The hotel’s intricate layout of interconnecting domes and corridors reflects the layout of Udaipur itself – whose seven lakes are linked by canals. These domes and walkways are flooded with sunlight, and offer magnificent views of the lake and gardens.
Featuring splendid furniture, Mewar inspired designs and the most modern technologies, The Oberoi Udaivilas’ rooms harmonise authentic style and convenience. On one side, rooms afford refreshing views of our expansive gardens, indigenous trees and vibrant bougainvillea. On the other, they open onto private or semi-private pools, with views of the serene waters of Lake Pichola and the dramatic City Palace.
THE OBEROI, BALI
Situated within 6 hectares of mature tropical gardens lining the beach at Seminyak, The Oberoi, Bali is the island’s most iconic luxury resort. As with some of the world’s great hotel classics, it has been superbly designed to reflect the mood of its surrounds. The resort with its delightful villas, pavilions, and open-sided restaurants, immediately evokes the look and ambiance of a Balinese village.
The Oberoi, Bali features 14 traditionally inspired villas crafted in local stone, with either a private courtyard or a pool hidden away in flower splashed gardens. The resort also has 60 spacious, light-filled lanai rooms with their own individual terrace.
All of The Oberoi, Bali’s luxurious villas and pavilions feature exquisite décor, complemented by carved teak wood finishes, and opulent marble flooring.
Kura Kura Restaurant within a breezy thatched pavilion captures the enchantment of the island, with its menu offering a choice of delectable Indonesian, Continental and Asian dishes, and cheery ‘Angklung’ music from a variety of local musical troupes including the West Bamboo orchestra in the background. Frangipani Café, with its views of the coastline is a perfect spot for long leisurely alfresco breakfasts and lunches, while the Kayu Bar offers evening aperitifs and cocktails, steps from the beach and pool. Also here, the amphitheatre is the setting for cultural performances including gamelan music and classical performances, which are combined with candlelit dinners under the stars.
