Okinawa Corporate Games Draws More Than 1,500 Global Participants

The world’s largest Corporate Games links different countries, nations, and enterprises through sports, having created fantastic experiences and exchange opportunities year after year. The exciting, lively four-day sports event from March 5 to 8 this year successfully drew teams formed by various global enterprises. More than 1,500 competitive, physically fit participating athletes mirrored enterprises’ solidarity and tenacity as well as their vibrant and energetic employees. The Corporate Games will further promote cultural exchange between enterprises, enhance links between employees, and at the same time strengthen solidarity, friendship, and collaborations between businesses, contributing to healthy development for each organization.

Corporate Games as an international sports event

Since the first Corporate Games held in San Francisco, USA in 1988, more than 60 cities in the world have hosted the annual event to date. As a result, it has become the largest international sports event for enterprises. This year, the Okinawa Corporate Games 2015 held in Okinawa, Japan featured 15 sports, with more than 200 competitions held. This is one of the mega corporate events in East Asia had enthusiastic support from the government of the Okinawa Prefecture and multiple enterprises. Led by Okinawa Conventions and Visitors Bureau, Okinawa Tourism Services, the Hilton Hotel Group, and several local enterprises in Okinawa sincerely received all athletes and their families, giving them a long-lasting, great impression of the prefecture.

Statistics reveal that Okinawa has long been popular among the Japanese public and overseas visitors. Okinawaas a tourist hotspot, visitors from Japan and global reach 7 millions yearly. During the event, some athletes from the UK said their teams joining the Okinawa Corporate Games for the first time and tremendously enjoyed the sports event and sightseeing in Okinawa. With an excellent impression from their first trip, these athletes added that they had plans to come again for fun in the coming year. While hosting an international event such as the Corporate Games brings about regional exchange, solidarity, and friendship, it also attracts foreign investment, helps promote tourism, expands foreign visitor base, and creates job opportunities for the locals. All these in turn help expedite urban and infrastructure development, upgrade Okinawa’s international image, and provide a reference for future global events to be held in the prefecture.
