Okinawa, Japan won the 2017 Asia’s Best Cruise Port of Call Award

Okinawa, Japan’s southernmost prefecture consisting of 160 islands of various sizes, won the 2017 Asia’s Best Cruise Port of Call Award during the fifth annual Asia Cruise Forum Jeju.

With 1,500 participants from 19 countries, this forum awarded Okinawa for its high number of port of calls, cultural and natural tourism attractions, geographically predominance for cruises, and speed of CIQ (customs, immigration, quarantine).

A 4 day-forum called on worldwide cruise-relation organisations and businesses for a “cooperation and Win-Win in Asia Cruise Industry” from 24th to 27th of August. Under the theme, there is a comprehensive line-up of session topics and honored invitees for the annual forum held on the island.

The topics to be discussed are especially topical in light of recent geopolitical events in the region.  The forum highlighted the necessity of constant cooperation among Asian cruise organizations and a various strategies of development.

In this year, Okinawa prefecture is expecting to own more than 500 times of port of call in FY2017, which is 29% up from FY2016.
