Mittagong’s Old Bank Boutique Hotel is offering a 30 per cent discount for guests staying three nights. This deal is valid for summer stays in the Southern Highlands until February 28, 2017, for visitors and locals alike to experience the building’s rich history in air-conditioned comfort.
Cream teas and light lunches have also been introduced for daytime visitors and overnight guests, allowing visitors to step back in time inside one of the most iconic, stately colonial-era buildings in the Highlands. The traditional, British cream teas are served with clotted cream and home-made strawberry and vanilla bean jam. The new afternoon teas, from $18.50, and lunches from $27.50 are available from 10am to 4pm seven days a week by prior booking and are designed to invite locals and visitors alike keen to experience the immaculately restored, 124-year-old building.
Located between Sydney and Canberra in the Southern Highlands, The Old Bank is a Victorian-Romanesque-styled building. The property was built in 1892 and operated as a bank and manager’s residence for many years until falling into disrepair in the 1970s. Warwick and Barbara Wainberg purchased the property in 2009 and embarked on restoring the building to its former glory, reopening in September, 2016.
The Old Bank caters for all functions including weddings, corporate events and celebrations. Accommodation consists of five individually themed suites, a self-contained studio and a free-standing cottage. The hotel features open fireplaces and is decorated with antiques and historic photographs throughout. Residents can choose to relax in the library, lounge, terrace or fountain courtyard. The property is situated close to antique shops, restaurants, cafes, gardens, national parks and country pubs as well as Lake Alexandra and its many ducks, a mere five-minute walk away.
With a 30 per cent discount, a three-night stay at the Old Bank is now available from $621. The discount applies to weekend or midweek stays but tariffs vary across the week. Rates include normal afternoon tea with cake and full seasonal breakfast. Rooms contain tea and coffee making facilities, air-conditioning, flat screen TV, DVD player, free wi-fi, bar fridge and Egyptian cotton linen. The new cream teas and lunches are additional.
Complimentary pick-ups from Mittagong Railway Station are also offered.
