Oman Air Gives Record Boost To Salalah Flights For Summer Season

July 5, 2014 Aviation No Comments Email Email

Oman Air is boosting its Muscat to Salalah services to meet extra demand during the summer season.

WY 737The national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman is increasing the number of services to Salalah from 52 flights per week to 84, from 24th July to 15th September 2014, to cope with the increasing popularity of the destination during the Khareef season.

This sees the southern Oman experience cooling rains and an abundance of plant and animal life as monsoon weather patterns affect the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula. The contrast in weather between southern Oman and the high temperatures found across the rest of the region is significant, and brings travellers from throughout the Middle East flocking to Salalah to experience relief from the heat.

For many years, Oman Air has increased the number of services it operates between Muscat and Salalah during the Khareef. This year will see the carrier offering 158,354 seats to Salalah between July and September – more than ever before and 13,234 seats more than last year, even though last year capacity utilization did not exceed 80%. The operations during this season will be operated with Airbus A 330’s, Boeing 737’s and E 175s

WY at airportAbdulrazaq Alraisi, Chief Commercial Officer at Oman Air, commented:

“With up to 14 scheduled flights a day from Muscat, and a minimum of 10 per day, Oman Air is offering a record number of seats to Salalah from Muscat this summer to provide the perfect introduction to the area’s natural beauty, rich culture and superb hospitality. There is no better place to escape the heat of the Middle East summer, or for visitors from further afield to experience a part of Oman that defies expectations.

“However, seats are selling fast, with more visitors than ever before planning to experience the unique attractions of the Khareef in Salalah and the surrounding Dhofar region.  Hence we would advise booking as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
